Aims

Aim of the research and development project is developing and testing a harmonized proceeding and concrete guidelines for the trans-sectoral and cross-border implementation of the Water Framework Directive, Habitats Directive and Birds Directive.

Tasks are:

To develop EU-wide recommendations for a harmonized proceeding implementing the EU Water Framework Directive, Habitats Directive and Birds Directive based on the results and experiences in the investigation area
To clarify the proceeding and the coordination of the planning process in two different water bodies
To calibrate aims and conservation and development measures for species according to appendix II and IV of the Habitats Directive and for habitats according to appendix I of the Habitats Directive.
To harmonize and synchronize public participation according to the Water Framework Directive and Habitats Directive, as well as according to the regulations of the federal states.

Finally a trans-national concept and recommendations will be developed, that consolidates nature conservation, hydraulic engineering and socio-economic aims according to the respective European directives and optimises the process of the implementation.
